Enhanced survey program For bulk carrier and tankers above 10 years of age.
Some Basic responsibilities of Chief officer are
1) A chief officer should have access plan to the location being surveyed for enhanced survey program, which includes risk assessment for such an operation.
2) A chief officer should ensure proper illumination and ventilation is available throughout survey operation.
3) Ensures proper communication is maintained and there is viable rescue plan.
A survey planning questionnaire and survey program is required to be prepared by owners at least 6 months in advance and submitted to classification society.
ESP includes close up a survey for thickness measurement of plates.
A chief officer should have the following plans/documents readily available.
1) Structural plan
2) Hull damage report (If any)
3) Tank Inspection report
4) Repair report (If any)
5) Capacity plan
6) Shell expansion plan
